Thank you for coming - find the conference review here!

----
Join us at our conference, participate in a workshop for digital security, network with practitioners and politicians, and learn about the impressive investigations of the IJ4EU grantees.

We will assess the challenges that investigative journalism faces in Europe today and the conditions – political, legal, and financial – that are necessary for investigative journalism to flourish. Find out why investigative journalism is in everyone’s interest – and how we can protect it in a climate where economic needs and political interference are the new normal.

Two years ago, the European Parliament initiated a special fund to be spent exclusively on cross-border investigative journalism, the #IJ4EU. The grants from this fund, launched by the ECPMF and managed by International Press Institute (IPI), were awarded to twelve transnational teams from across Europe. The UNCOVERED conference will give a stage to grantees to present the results of their work.

The event takes place under the patronage of the Governing Mayor of Berlin, Mr Michael Müller.

Places are limited! Please register and please cancel your registration if you can’t come to free up your seat.
Please note: We will take photos and videos of the speakers and audience, which may be posted on our website and social media channels.

um:ag | Uğur Mumcu Investigative Journalism Foundation

um:ag was established with the purpose of providing press with the young journalists who will continue brave journalist-writer Uğur Mumcu’s understanding of journalism, who was assassinated on January 24, 1993. In addition to that purpose, um:ag also serves as a culture and art centre where people who reject mediocrity in literature, philosophy, cinema, painting and visual arts could come together.

um:ag Publications compile all works and articles of Uğur Mumcu in books and present them to the readers in order to evaluate the past and understand today. With new publications every year, um:ag introduces its research series, special series and new studies to its readers.

um:ag Academy has been conducting its training activities since 2011 in İstanbul Kadir Has University Lifelong Learning Centre. Since 2017, together with Gümüşlük Academy Foundation, um:ag has also started summer workshops in Bodrum.

um:ag is a distinguished culture and art centre where people freely come together, share and create through its Investigative Journalism Education, as well as seminars held in new areas each year such as, writing-philosophy-cinema workshop seminars and history of political thought seminars.

um:ag Talks are events which bring writers, journalists and artists together with people from Ankara.

um:ag Art Gallery aims at bringing artists, new galleries and people from Ankara together by organizing exhibitions every year.her yıl açılan sergileriyle, sanatçıları ve yeni galerileri Ankaralılarla buluşturmayı amaçlamaktadır.

um:ag raises awareness that, in our country where we witness murders remaining “unidentified”, justice and democracy can only be established by the increased number of citizens who fight against impositions, pressures, intolerance, torture and injustice by organizing “Justice and Democracy Week” every year between 24 and 31 January week. Um:ag carries out “Justice and Democracy Week” as an umbrella organization with the participation of several NGO’s.

um:ag continues to survive by virtue of your participation to our seminars and other activities, as well as the books you will buy with your donations.
